RYB 913: What’s The Best Way To Launch My Digital Product? – Jam Session

By Scott Voelker •  Updated: 11/27/20 •  9 min read

Welcome to this week’s episode of our weekly Friday jam session. I’m so happy to have you here. As always, this is one of the highlights of my week when I get to hang out with some awesome people and answer some great questions.

To join us, head over to takeactioncrew.com to sign up. You’ll meet some incredible people and get your own questions answered that will help you grow your own business. I always recommend asking questions within the group because I often choose questions from there to answer on our coffee talks.

Today we’re going to talk bout the best ways to launch your digital product and how to do it effectively. If you don’t have a digital product yet and don’t know where to start, you’re in luck. I recently launched a workshop where I teach you how to create your own digital product, and the goal is to build your list to 500 subscribers in 30 days! It’s much easier than you might think, and we walk you through the entire process step-by-step.

Your Emal List Is Key to a Success Digital Product Launch

The number way I believe you will get the quickest results, get good feedback, and be able to follow back up again is through your email list. If someone is searching for a product and happens to land on your product, chances are they aren’t going to buy it the first time they see it.

And as they continue their research, they may forget that they found your page in the first place. However, if you have a warm audience, like your email list, you have a much better chance of selling your product because they know who you are, and you’ve had some time to build up trust with your audience.

In the time that you’re building your product, you can leverage your email list and audience to help create the product. Ask them questions and show them sneak peeks of what you’ve been working on. You can also get them excited in the process by sharing the special promotion you’re going to offer to kick off your new product.

The biggest mistake I see people make is sending out a one time email letting people know their new product is live. We want to let our audience know that something is coming ahead of time, so they are ready. Send sneak peeks of what it looks like and what is included. Let them know what special promotion you’re going to offer along with the launch to get them excited and more likely to purchase once your digital product goes live.

Take Advantage of Your Unopened List

So many people send out emails to their list but never resend to the unopened list. This is a huge mistake. Every time you send to the unopened list you’re increasing your open rates by 8-10%. There are so many people who may have just missed your first email but are interested in learning more about your product. So, make sure you’re not missing out on that part of your list.

I always start marketing my new digital product 3-5 days in advance, so I have time to send it to the unopened list. Make sure to remind them that there is a deadline for the special discount that you’re going to offer in your communications.

You want to let your audience know that the product is available and once they’ve purchased that, you’ve loved your feedback.

You always want to give people a last-minute reminder, always! A lot of people often wait until the last minute to make a purchase, so make sure you send a friendly email reminder shortly before the promotion ends to give them one last chance to get the special promotion that you’re going to offer.

Promote on Platforms You’re Already Utilizing

If you have a business Facebook page, post about your new product there too. If you’re leading up to promotion, just put a little snippet from the digital product and remind people that it’s coming. Or ask people a question that provides some engagement and promotes your digital product at the same time.

Keep in mind that the key to getting more eyeballs on your Facebook page is to post more often and encourage engagement from your audience. However, your reach is going to be pretty small if you’re not running Facebook ads.

The other cool thing about Facebook posts is that if one starts to get some reach, you can turn it into a boosted post to spread our reach. The goal is to bring as much attention to your product as possible.

If you have a website, create a popup or banner, letting your audience know about your upcoming digital product. Also, start looking at your Google Analytics and see what pages are getting the most traffic. You can add your promotion directly to those pages as well.

If you’re driving traffic to a lead magnet, add the promotion for your new digital product on the backend. So once they sign up for your lead magnet, they’ll see your product on the thank you page. This is another great way to reach people who have shown some interest in your brand and would more likely purchase from you.

Facebook ads are another great way to reach more people. Within my digital product creation course, Chris goes through how to create an ad step by step. It’s much easier than you might think.

A quick recap of the five ways to promote your digital products:

  1. Email List: Always start by reaching out to your subscribers
  2. Facebook Business Page: Engage with people who like your page and answer any questions your audience has.
  3. Website – Add the promotion as a popup or banner on your website. I also recommend adding it to the most viewed pages on your website.
  4. Lead Magnet Thank You Page – Add your special offer or promotion for your new digital product on the thank you page once someone signs up for your lead magnet.
  5. Facebook ads – run some inexpensive ads and test the

Jam Session Q&A

Q: What are the pros and cons of going multi-channel for selling physical products on multiple platforms?

A: Anytime you’re going multi-channel, see what the ROI is and what it’ll do for your business logistically. On eBay and Etsy, you will be able to grow a list of buyers that you can use later on. If you have other products that you can sell and get more people added to your buyer list and in the future, you can follow up with other things related to the thighs they have already purchased.

Q: If you were starting over, would you run Facebook ads, and for how long

A: Yes, I would need to look at the conversation rates to see how long I would run the Facebook ads. From there, I would add the thank you page onto the lead magnet.

Q: Any recommendations of how to make next week more productive?

A: Sit down and map it out beforehand. Always plan a week ahead to see the best results.

Q: Will you be teaching us how to write copy in the digital product workshop?

A: We will definitely be talking about how to write a good hook and a good title. It’s always the thing that will grab someone’s attention and encourage them to purchase your product. We can always start with what we know people want and backfill with the content.

If you want to attend one of our jam sessions, live head over to takeactioncrew.com. If you are interested in building a list, you should go through our list building workshop. You’ll be able to get a list of up to 500 subscribers in 300 days. It’s much easier than you think, and we’ll walk you through the entire progress!
